seriously St. Moritz?

When I think of Italian shoes (sidenote: don't worry, this is a rare occurence), I imagine soft buttery leather, an astronomical price tag & pure class. The MOON BOOTS (http://www.moon-boots.com/) that we experienced yesterday in mass quantities managed to significantly alter my once reverent views. These things are majorly more disturbing than the Ugg boot. What did the rest of the world do to wrong you so badly that you felt inclined to create such a monstrosity Italy? If the only demographic of people wearing said boot were children I would not have flinched. However, they were found most commonly on women in fur (who must likely crap pure gold & therefore, can afford something far superior), gay men & people wearing all white. I wish this had been the only upsetting fashion trend exemplified....but nay, there were also women rocking the George Costanza tall Russian fur caps (please tell me you have all seen this Seinfeld episode?), a dog with wrap-around sun googles (for maximum eye protection from the blinding sun/snow combo?!), and fur, fur, fur. I mean, this place was a PETA nightmare.

Beyond, the fashion(in)able people in attendance, there were also a bunch of pushers, nudgers, bumbpers, people who laid their entire body against your own to get just another 2 inches closer to the race. I am highly skeptical that the concept we Americans like to call personal space will ever catch on here. They are even breeding their children into the nudgers, pushers & invaders of personal space of tomorrow. One woman, after pushing & nudging into a non-existent space, who was also wearing, say it ain't so, a fur, actually asked Joe if he could move back to let her friend up because he "ist zu gross" (is too tall). I'm sorry, but firstly, calling someone too tall does not incline one to do favors for others. Secondly, where the hell did you come from, and how did you ninja yourself & your giant fur into a space that did not previously exist? Thirdly, since you are wearing said fur, we assume you also have the 45 francs to pony up for a seat, from the seats, you don't have to worry about people that are zu gross, you see, they are built on what is called a grade which allows one to see over the heads of people in front of them. Joe stood on principle, and therefore, refused to move...it was glorious!

Right, so just in case I had not mentioned, all this insanity takes place on the frozen lake of St. Moritz. WHAT?, I did not realize that I was standing on a frozen lake (thanks babe) & that my last sight ever could be those of moon boots if the lake happened to crack & swallow me into the abyss!? This whole White Turf thing has been going on since 1907, so clearly, we were going to be fine, but I must admit it was a bit startling to find out after we were well into our first hour of attendance.

I suppose you all are assuming I will discuss the horse races, but clearly that was just something that happened less than every half hour for a maximum of 2 minutes of personal space invasion, we were clueless as to the winners, etc. UNTIL, the skikjoring, who ever had such a ridiculous idea must have been the *Jackass of the early 1900s. This race was nearly as entertaining as what was happening all around the track, which was pleasant, considering we were technically there for the horse races.

It does strike me as odd that I enjoy horse races as much as I do, especially considering how much I strongly dislike horses, horse people, naaayyying, having horses near me (near me being, of course, a relative term as 12ft away is still uncomfortably close), horse poo, horse drawn carriage rides...

craziness in cabo abounds

As if the pictures did not make it painfully clear, I'll go ahead and reiterate what a fabulous time I had with my family in Cabo! Although, it did make me seriously question why we relocated to Switzerland when there are such beautiful places in the world, and places that have such freaking amazing weather! Seriously, it was snowing here AGAIN when I just went out to pick up the dry cleaning (honestly, it has snowed 3/5 days that I have been back...wtf).
As you all can see, Amy looked absolutely gorgeous and I personally felt very honored to be present for her wedding. The entire week was a whirlwind. I got to spend more time bonding with my cousins than I have in a really, really long time. There were far too many schenanigans with them though ;), and it took my body quite a long time to recover from it all.
Of course, it would have been even better if Joe had been able to make it, but instead he's been enjoying 10pm worknights, heyoh! We will just have to plan it as our first trip after we return to the States. Anyone up for Cabo, Navidad 2012;)?
Hopefully everyone else is surviving the never ending winter well enough. We are most likely going to partake (aka watch, what's the difference) in some serious winter activities this Sunday at the snow horse races in St. Moritz. Sound ridiculous & perhaps a bit made up!? Well, it's not. Apparently it's the richy rich thing to do, hence, why we'll be there (oh, i kill myself). Check it out here, www.whiteturf.ch if you are interested in the insanity.
Take care of each other loves!
