The best summer, ever.

We had the most phenomenal summer. Certainly the best in 5 years. There were a few days here and there that were too warm, but we all found ways to stay cool. Liam & I spent a lot of afternoons in shady parks, splashing in fountains while Joe took to swimming in the river (upstream, against the current....basically swimming to stay in the same spot, motivating!) during his lunch breaks. On the weekends we were always at a lake, pool, or discovering badis (pay facilities along Lake Zurich with pool facilities for kids, changing rooms, slides and diving boards into the lake & docks to swim out to with some gorgeous views of the city and the mountains). All these years we had spent sunny summer days in free grassy parts along the lake. Only took us five years to man up & pay.....and we quickly realized we were missing out, big time! Zurich in the summer is, at the risk of sounding horribly cheesy and trite, kinda magical. The nights are longer than at home, everyone and I mean, everyone is out taking advantage of the good days, the sun is hot but the nights are cool. The lake is comfortable to swim in, clean and fresh. There are tons of great places to discover and on a clear night, when you find yourself in the middle of nowhere with a child who refuses to go back to sleep in the hotel room cot, there are more stars in the night sky than one ever imagined could possibly exist.
