Nana & Papa came to visit, so we did what we do while they are here & headed south into a little known region of Italy: Piedmont. We have a few friends who raved about the area and considering it's just over the border and a short(ish) 5 hours in the car, we decided to take a week & explore the area. I arranged a lot more in advance for this trip as there wasn't a whole lot of information out there on the world wide web about the place, esp not in English. We were the only folks staying in a gorgeous, refurbished farmhouse, equipped with huge balcony, pool, vineyards as far as the eye could see and a rooster to wake us in the morning (those who hadn't been woken by Liam yet that is...). We hunted for truffles, learned how to many traditional Piemontese dishes in a local woman's home, ate cheese & drank beer at the famous Bra cheese festival, had a guided tour of Turino, ate well, faked our way through full Italian conversations as there was little English spoken in the region (a few times resulted in ordering beef tartar, blurg), and generally enjoyed sunny afternoons and a relaxed time together.
in the yard...that cement truck might have accidentally ended up in the car when we left (seriously, it was an accident)
on the balcony at the house

Pigeons, big FUN!
So, call me maybe?!
Sunset, over Castiglione Tinella (from the balcony)
learning how to make hazelnut cake with Elena
Liam terrorizing their family dog
from the balcony again....we didn't spend much time there;)
